Aircon install

An unusual job ... to install 3 internal mains powered Aircon units for a customer.

This required large holes of 182mm diameter (over 7 inch wide) holes to be core drilled right through the house walls. The 25mm drill bit for the condensation overflow looked small by comparison.

I carefully checked the walls for obstructions like pipes and electric cables before using the template to mark the position of the drill holes. I drilled 7 holes for fixings, 2 for the main vents (the big ones) and 1 for the condensation overflow. The overflow one had to be at an angle downwards.

The main vent holes were then lined and finished off with vent covers both internally and externally before the aircon unit itself is mounted on the wall.

Job was finished off by using trunking to hide the power cable. Some creativity with staggered wire joins allowed me to use smaller trunking.

My 3.3kg 750w SDS drill was not up to the job of putting this Diamond Core Bit through the wall and broke. It has been replaced with a larger 6.3kg 1500w SDS drill that did a great job!
