Full Details
Integrated Washing Machines and Dishwashers

The service starts with an assessment of the setup you have which includes…

  • Asking you where the main stop cock is. I’m never expecting to need to use it but it pays to be prepared.

  • Making sure the location is suitable and adheres to regulations.

  • Noting any existing damage to the area where the machine is to be installed and inspecting your existing décor door, the surrounding cupboard doors and the plinth.

  • Testing your electrical socket to make sure the electrical supply is safe.

  • If the old machine is hardwired then this will require your electrical supply to be turned off so I can disconnect the old machine and hardwire the new machine. This is all something I can do as an electrically competent person under the regulations.

  • Assessing existing inlet and waste pipes, including extra-long hose runs.

  • I then check the water isolation valve (flag valve) to make sure the water can be safely turned off at the machine supply end before pipes are disconnected and old machines uninstalled. These valves can be prone to ‘sticking’ due to a limescale build up inside them and can break and cause leaks if they are forced open.  Retailers will fail the job if they find this issue ... I can fix it for you.

  • If there are any issues with the electrical supply or the water isolation valve then I would discuss that with you and offer any extra help that is needed at that point.

  • I then uninstall the old machine and install the new machine. The décor door will be hung on the new machine and then adjusted to line up with existing cupboards. At this stage with dishwashers in particular we may find that the new machine opens slightly differently than the old machine and that I need to cut a little section out of your plinth for the machine door to open fully.

The service concludes with me testing the new appliance and making sure the water comes in, the programs run and that the water then drains as well. Whilst I am running these checks I will normally talk you through the features of your new machine.

Integrated Fridges & Freezers

The service starts the same whether you have an undercounter fridge/freezer or a tall fridge freezer unit with two doors and that is with an assessment of the setup you have which includes…

  • Making sure the location is suitable and adheres to regulations.

  • Noting any existing damage to the area where the machine is to be installed and inspecting your existing décor door(s), the surrounding cupboard doors and the plinth.

  • Testing your electrical socket to make sure the electrical supply is safe.

  • If the old machine is hardwired then this will require your electrical supply to be turned off so I can disconnect the old machine and hardwire the new machine. This is all something I can do as an electrically competent person under the regulations.

I can then uninstall the old machine and install the new machine, hang the doors on the new machine and line everything up to match existing cabinets - please read the notes below about types of fixings (hinged or sliding) for Integrated Fridge / Freezer doors, as well as the note about Fridge Freezer door ‘splits’.

There are two systems of attaching doors to an Integrated Fridge or Freezer …

Fixed Hinge where the cupboard door attaches directly to the machine door

Sliding Hinge where the cupboard door slides on rails on the machine door

It is normally recommended to replace your old machine with the same type of fitting as the old machine.

PLEASE NOTE It is possible (but not that easy) to replace a fixed hinge machine with a sliding system . It is also possible (but much harder) to replace a sliding system with a fixed hinge. In both of these cases it will add considerable time and cost to the job and is not something I would usually recommend.

For Integrated Fridge Freezers you also need to know this…

The doors on your machine will need to fit the ‘split’ of the machine. Fridge Freezers can come in various ‘splits’ such as these…

50/50 which means 50% of the height is Fridge and 50% of the height is Freezer

60/40 which means 60% of the height is Fridge and 40% of the height is Freezer

70/30 which means 70% of the height is Fridge and 30% of the height is Freezer

It is important that you replace you old machine with a new one that will fit the doors you have.

Useful Extra Info
