Wall Mounting and Hanging Services

First thing to say is that if you are looking for my Wall Mount service for Televisions I have that info on my TV page HERE

For any other Wall Mounting or Hanging services please keep reading .

These services are suitable for anything you need attaching to a wall such as Shelves, Cabinets, Curtain Tracks / Poles, Blinds, Pictures, Mirrors etc. The service includes the following…

  • Discussing with you exactly what you are looking for and where you want it to be.

  • Checking the type of wall or area around a window that you have to make sure they are suitable to actually mount the item to. I can advise on options to make things suitable if needed.

  • Checking for hidden obstructions in the wall such as metal pipes, electric cables and lintels above windows etc.

  • I’ll also observe all regulations about installing above fireplaces if that is where you want the item to go.

If I recommend specialist fixings that are better than the ones supplied with your item then I will always discuss that with you and make you aware of the extra cost of the parts before I use them.

Attaching Furniture to a Wall

We are all aware that some furniture items pose a risk of toppling or being pulled over, especially by children. Things that are taller like wardrobes and bookcases and even chests of drawers, where the drawers can be a tempting ladder to climb, can all pose a risk of accidents happening.

As such I can offer a service to attach furniture to walls to prevent these accidents from happening.

The service includes all of the checks about wall type and hidden objects listed above and will use the fixings supplied with your item or I can offer a bespoke system for you.

Wall Mounting and Hanging Services Time Guide

Obviously prices will vary given the complexity and size of the job but this will give you an idea…

Curtain Tracks/Poles/blinds are usually 20 - 45 minutes depending on size of window / fixing system needed and is per window. Occasionally I fit blinds that can take a little longer.

Installing shelves, pictures, mirrors etc will usually vary between 20 minutes and an hour depending on what is needed for your walls.

Attaching furniture to a wall would normally be 20 - 45 mins per item for 2 fixing points. I can provide fixings if needed or use ones you provide.

Useful Extra Info

It is worth noting that I try to prepare for every eventuality and there may always be the potential to hit a water pipe when drilling in to walls. This is especially true with modern builders using plastic pipes instead of copper. They are supposed to come with a metal strip attached to the pipe but unfortunately some plumbers and builders cut corners and don’t fit that. I ask where the main stop cock is. I’m never expecting to need to use it but it is good to know just in case.

To minimise the risks whilst preparing to install anything on a wall I mark out where the bracket will be going and then do an exploratory probe with a bradawl before moving on to a small drill bit and then finally on to the larger drill bit that will hold the fixings for the item. I have never hit a pipe yet and this is all precautionary.
